Bugs

Create a Log Pile

We have a tendency to over-tidy our gardens, parks and schools. Branches and logs are usually the first to go. However, this is a shame as rotting wood is a fantastic spot for bugs. They love the dark and damp conditions. It's the circle of life!

It’s ridiculously simple to start a log pile - just pile up logs on top of each other - the wetter and older the better. Keep topping it up year after year as the logs disintegrate. That's it! Simple! You've created a new habitat for biodiversity in your school garden.
