Inspiring Children,
Protecting Nature
Ireland's biodiversity youth training organisation
'Biodiversity in Schools' is Ireland's nature education organisation for young people. The aim of our exciting social enterprise is to teach young people across Ireland about biodiversity and get them actively involved in nature conservation. It's great for nature and it's great for children too; boosting their eco-literacy and both their mental and physical health. We're all about making real, impactful change. Education, communication, behavioural influence are our core functions and we have assembled a superb team of scientists and teachers to deliver this change. Our big idea is to bring schools across Ireland together as a patchwork of mini nature reserves!
You will find everything you need to boost biodiversity at your school on this website. As with everything we do we aim to keep things simple and fun - with a hefty dollop of science! Learn about what you can do in our School Projects section, find classroom and garden materials in our Resources section and learn more about biodiversity in our basic Biodiversity Facts section. We are also available to visit your school to help, so check out our Workshop section to see the range of options. We can help Design Your School Garden or you could choose from one of our School Garden Kits; from outdoor classrooms to sensory gardens. Make sure to sign up to our Newsletter and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram for more help and ideas! |

Nature Hero AWardsThe Nature Hero Award is Ireland’s first, standalone outdoor learning award. It is a mark of excellence for a school that recognises exceptional work by students and staff to help nature. The aim of the achievement is to create an educational space that nurtures a love of nature, develops a knowledge of our biodiversity and encourages action to help it locally.
