Inspiring Children,
Protecting Nature

Ireland's biodiversity education organisation

Welcome

We are Ireland's national biodiversity education organisation for young people. Our aim is to empower the next generation to help nature by giving them the support they need.

This is important for two reasons. Firstly, to tackle the biodiversity crisis by boosting eco-literacy and rewilding our schools. Secondly, to share with young people the joys of outdoor learning to boost their physical and mental wellbeing.

We're all about creating impact and work with Ireland's leading businesses, charities and public bodies to deliver this change. Education is our core function and we have assembled a superb team of scientists and teachers to do this - Ireland's first ever Biodiversity Education Officer network.

We provide absolutely everything needed to achieve this goal from teaching kits to workshops, school gardens to outdoor classrooms. We also coordinate the Nature Hero Award, the national
mark of excellence in outdoor education. As an independent, innovative, highly effective social enterprise we work to our own remit while reinvesting all our profits back into achieving our goal... inspiring children and protecting nature.
Our BIG idea...

Nature Hero AWards

The Nature Hero Award is Ireland’s first, standalone outdoor learning award. It is a mark of excellence for a school that recognises exceptional work by students and staff to help nature. The aim of the achievement is to create an educational space that nurtures a love of nature, develops a knowledge of our biodiversity and encourages action to help it locally.
