Over 4,000 FREE trees for schools.

Win 1 of 3 Outdoor Classrooms.

Coill na nÓg is a native tree & hedgerow planting initiative in partnership with eFlow with the support of local authorities.

It's Ireland's largest tree and hedgerow planting programme specifically for schools.

Each winter FREE tree packs are delivered to schools to create mini-woodlands and native hedgerows, backed by online resources and training.

'Coill na nÓg' is Irish for the 'Children's Forest' and each year this woodland continues to grow across Ireland. In its two years, the programme has planted 6,443 trees in 398 schools as 202 mini-woodlands and 1.5km of hedgerows.

We have over 4,000 trees to give away this year via a raffle system as well as three outdoor classrooms worth over €4,000 each through our competition.

We want to see more native hedgerows, mini-woodlands and Irish trees in schools across Ireland so please get involved in rewilding your school and your students!

Why are we doing this?

Ireland has one of the lowest levels of native tree cover in Europe, at only 2%. This is extremely low, especially considering our rich tree heritage.

Therefore, it is important the next generation grow to appreciate the importance of our trees from a biodiversity, climate and heritage perspective by nurturing them on their school grounds.

Similarly, hedgerows are also under threat. We have an impressive 689,000km across Ireland (enough to stretch around the planet 17 times!) but are losing up to 6,000km every year. This is disappointing as they are a last remaining refuge for wildlife. So let's fix it!

A huge thanks to our partner eFlow and our local authority sponsors: Cavan, Cork City, Cork County, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and Louth County Council.
